Our Location
Hello, My name is Rebecca Warren. Our cattery is a small hobby cattery that is located in our home. Our home is located in Indianapolis, which is in central Indiana. We are easy to get to from any of the surrounding states and we have large interstates that run through our city. I 65 runs north and south from Michigan to Florida and I 70 runs east and west through the central states. We do not ship our cats so you will have to drive to come and get your kitty or fly with it if the cat must fly. There are various services that can fly with your kitty or they can drive the kitty to you by land.
About Myself
I started breeding cats in 1985 and my cattery name is registered in all three associations which are CFA, ACFA and TICA. I had bred and shown Persians, Exotics and Selkirk Rex. I had gained mountains of information on the husbandry of raising purebred cats which included lots of reading and learning from other breeders. I moved into my parents home to care for them until they passed. So my obligation to them prevented me from traveling very far from the house to show my cats. I showed my cats in both CFA and ACFA and my cats did very well considering these limitations. I ran my cattery until about 2009 when I took a break for a few years while I went back to school to get my Bachelors degree. I only kept a pair of Napoleons to breed occasionally. I started my cattery up again in 2012 with Napoleons and Persians. While I was breeding cats I had collected many books, yearbooks, magazines and any other materiel to learn as much as I could in regards to cat health, husbandry, breeding, showing, breed standards, genetics and pedigree lines. I specifically enjoyed learning about color genetics. I collected pedigrees to add to my database. I learned how to run my cattery like a small business. I passed out business cards, advertised and promoted my cattery at the cat shows and wherever I could. I made sure my customers were happy and I had many trusted breeder friends that I exchanged kittens or cats with to prevent inbreeding. I often went to my buyers homes to help them with their cat's care. I worked closely with my vet and I mentored new breeders every chance I could. I also bred Yorkies with my mom. She enjoyed helping my with my cattery too. If you have any breeding/showing or other cat related questions feel free to ask me and I will make every effort to get an answer to you. I have never been a very competitive person. I was mostly at the shows to socialize and learn from the other breeders. I really loved being around friends at the shows and i joined the local cat club.
I did get titles on the majority of my cats and I had either championed or granded the majority of my cats. The cat I was most proud of was an Exotic shorthair named Purwaky Winky Dinky which I had produced myself. He was a kitten that had received a cut on his eye which luckily in the end needed an eyelid repared. He did go on to grand championship. The breeders at the shows used to say that any breeder can spend the money to buy a grandable show cat and show it to grand champion. The thing that measures you as a breeder and makes you proudest is granding a kitten that you produced yourself. Winky was that cat for me.
The New APHIS Ruling
Please refer to the new APHIS ruling which has put all breeders in a new categorization. There are a lot of factors involved that would determine if a cattery should be licensed or not. APHIS is working with PETA and the Humane Society of the US in an effort to make pet breeders quit breeding their animals and to only have commercial breeders producing pets. You could help by contacting your Congressmen and plead with them to repeal these new rulings that are backed by PETA. Obama is not only making life difficult with the new health insurance plans but he is also trying to set up government run large sterile commercial facilities to produce your new non-socialized pet. Yet the Amish can keep their dirty puppy mills who sell their animals to the pet stores like Uncle Bills. These animals are in poor health and terrified of everything that is not familular to them. HSUS has lied to the public for years and they get away with it because nobody knows the truth about their intentions. They have gone so far as to admit that they want all the purebreds dead so that people could only get their pets from shelters. They are closely associated with PETA who wants to go to a meatless society and would like all Americans be Vegans. Please research this information and help us repeal this new ruling.
This new ruling does not only affect dog and cat breeders. These rulings affect every type of animal that is bred today. This includes horses, rodents, all small animals, birds, reptiles and every purebred animal intentionally bred by man. Many of the breeders will quit breeding therefore the other pet industries will decline and the economy will suffer from it. There will be a lowered demand for pet food, supplies, services and many other areas that the pet companies rely on today. This will cause more jobs lost and will raise the price of pet supplies. Please go to my links page to link to the sites with more information and way that you can help to resist these new rules.
Did you know that the HSUS is in court now accused of committing fraud for making the public think that they donate more that 1% of their donations to shelters? The rest of their money goes for lobbying to change the laws in their favor to get rid of all meat producers, breeders and anyone else that is not like minded like them. The HSUS has admitted to telling shelters that it is okay to kill animals. Go to my Indy Pets facebook page or to cat-law@yahoogroups,com for more information.
